    THE JACKSON-HIGHTOWER UNION

William Hightower, from Miami, Florida, was home from a military assignment and attended church in hopes of meeting "a good church girl”. When he saw Theresa Jackson, a very beautiful young woman from Sylvania, Georgia, he found what he was looking for. One Sunday after church, they talked and exchanged mailing addresses. William began writing her notes and letters during their four-week courtship, and in one of those letters he proposed marriage and she accepted. They were married in the early 1960's and to that union, three children were born: Cheryl, Stephanie and William, Jr.

William and Theresa were known for their fortitude and resilience in the face of adversity. Their positive outlook, in spite of experiencing tough challenges, inspired others to be grateful and to live with purpose.

Though they have since passed on, their family wishes to honor their memory and legacy by providing a scholarship offering to eligible 2021 High School Graduates.
